Safety

We Go Above and Beyond When It Comes To Safety
Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our clients and that of our employees.  That is why we have dedicated time and resources to become OSHA certified in occupational safety and health in General Industry

Bloodborne diseases such as AIDS and Hepatitis B can easily be transmitted while on the job through accidental puncture or indirect transmission. These diseases can be debilitating or even fatal. That is why it is extremely important that we educate and arm our employees and clients to keep everyone safe.

Vaccination
Because of the dangers of exposure to Hepatitis B, at risk employees are given the Hepatitis B vaccine which has been proven to be 85% to 97% effective.

Our First Line of Defense is an Offensive Exposure Control Plan
Whenever we are in a work area where employees may be exposed to blood or other body fluids, we institute an Exposure Control Plan.  This minimizes the risk of exposure by first identifying the risk, then determining who is at risk and training them in advance on what to do. We also ensure they take precautionary measures such as wearing Personal Protective Equipment.

Engineering and Work Practice Controls Ensure Safety
Many of our cleaning tasks, by their very nature put our workers at risk every day; particularly when we are cleaning a crime scene, accident site, or are in gross filth situation. When working in these conditions, we institute the following engineering and work practice controls:

  • Use autoclaves to sterilize all equipment and treat infectious waste;
  • Use puncture resistant, labeled sharps containers for disposal of needles, razor blades, etc.;
  • Place needles in the sharps container; do not bend, break or recap them;
  • Sweep up broken glass; do not pick it up by hand;
  • Wash hands immediately after removing gloves and after any contact with blood contaminated surfaces;
  • Keep food or water away from areas where blood is worked with;
  • No eating, drinking, smoking or appling make-up in areas where blood is worked with;
  • Eliminate splashing of infectious materials when possible;
  • Protect open wounds from infectious materials.

Responding to Emergencies
Sometimes accidents happen; but when they do, we are trained on what to do and how to minimize exposure and be proactive.  Training includes working through a risk scenario which tracks a bloodborne pathogens exposure, and shows employees how to react - and how not to react - to an injury involving blood. From immediately rendering the proper first-aid to documentation and follow-through after the incident, our focus is to ensure the safety of both the injured person and those around him.
